A video is going viral on social media where a crowd surrounds the terrified girl and accuses her of blasphemy. The incident happened in Ichra Bazaar, Lahore, i.e., the capital city of Punjab (Pakistan) in which a girl gets surrounded by a mob of around 300 people just because of her dress.
How had it happened?
On February 25, 2023, a girl was accused of blasphemy because of an Arabic word “halwa” calligraphed on her dress. People misinterpreted this word as Quranic verses and surrounded her. The traders present in the market not only give shelter to that girl but also try to convince the mob that it is the latest trending outfit design in the industry. It has nothing to do with Quranic verses.
But no one is willing to accept it; they just believe in what they saw.
After some time, the girl who was shivering with fear in the corner of a shop was luckily rescued by the police on time; otherwise, no one knows what mishap could happen.
ASP Shehr Bano handled the situation professionally and tried to convince the mob that no blasphemy was done by the girl. She said:
“During my service, I have handled three such incidents, and you should have trust in us [police].”
Later on, it was seen in a video clip that she covered the girl and herself executed the girl from the crowd. She also assured the mob that the case would be handled as per the law.
The Outcome
Now the question arises: is the accusation true?
The police invited many religious scholars into the police situation to inquire about the truth. In the end, the girl was right. There were no Quranic verses on her dress. Instead of it, the Arabic word “halwa” is calligraphed on her shirt, which means beautiful.
Afterwards, police released the official statement to clear up the doubts of the mob. Also, the girl apologized in the video and explained she had no intention of blasphemy and would be more careful next time.
“I didn’t have any such intention; it happened by mistake. Still, I apologize for all that happened, and I’ll make sure it never happens again.”
Conclusion
If the police are late for a few more minutes, we never know what will happen to that girl. Even Asp. Ms. Shehr bano said that no one actually knows what was written on it. Our only priority is the safety of the girl, because some people are demanding the execution of the girl in the mob.

This is where we stand as a nation. Is this the Islamic Republic of Pakistan that Quaid e Azam and Allama Iqbal have dreamt of?
Everyone has an opinion on whether the girl was right or wrong. I am not discussing it. Everyone has an opinion and I respect it
I wonder why women are still unsafe in this country. Without knowing the truth, we are all gathered around to execute the girl. A clear fear can be seen on the girl’s face when she is hiding herself in the shop. Have someone think about that girl. How this incident will traumatize her mentally in the future.
No, we do not think of it.
The situation can be handled peacefully, where the police will inquire about the blesphamy, and later on, actions will be taken if the accusation is proven correct.
Violence is not the solution to every problem.
