Pasoori Nu: Is It A Successful Remake Or A Failure ?

On June 25, Indian actor Kartik Aryan took to his Twitter handle to break the news of the release of Pasoori Nu (an Indian version or remake of Pakistan’s hit song Pasoori).

The original Pasoori song had the melodious voices of Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, who set the internet on fire through this song. Their popularity goes around the globe and unites people through their song despite differences in culture, language, country, etc. It was the first Pakistani song to be featured in the list of the top 50 globally viral Spotify songs. Even it was played in the Disney Plus miniseries Ms. Marvel season 4, thus, its popularity goes all around, from Coke Studio to Hollywood.

On June 26 at 11.11 a.m., an Indian music record company and film label, T-Series, released the Pasoori remake version as PASOORI NU on their YouTube channel and other social media handles. Arijit Singh and Tusli Kumar sang this remake version; the original chorus is the same, but the plot twist is that Indians changed the literal meaning of the song.

The song that shows the feeling of a broken person now depicts the romantic love story of Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani.”

It is basically a part of the romantic upcoming film of Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani, titled Satya Prem Ki Katha.

Though the chorus remains the same, those chunks of the original Pasoori that were in Punjabi and Urdu are translated into Hindi. Rochak Kohli and Ali Sethi give music to this song, and the lyrics of the remake version were written by Gurpreet Saini and Ali Sethi.

Many people mock Kartik Aryan for always being a part of remake songs and even movies. They advised him that it was not beneficial in the long run.

Arijit Singh Comment on Pasoori Nu

Many people comment that T-Series should use the euphonious voice of Arijit Singh for a new song instead of a remake version.

Some people commented that though the Pasoori Nu cannot cope with the original one but Arijit Singh’s voice makes the remake version better.

A tweet from the unofficial account of Arijit Singh also went viral, in which he clarified the reason why he agreed to this remake.

He replied, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for the unprivileged.”

It’s still unknown whether Arijit Singh own this user’s Twitter handle or not. But this account has 108.8k followers and is followed by Armaan Malik, Shreya Goshal, and many other celebs from the Bollywood industry.

Pakistani actors also stepped forward to show their disapproval of the Pasoori remake version. Adnan Sadiqui tweeted on his account “Slaughter this masterpiece as it does to others in the garb of remaking”.

Criticism On Bollywood Music Directors

Some people called out Bollywood for its diplomacy. On the one hand, Pakistani artists are banned in India, yet they have the guts to make remakes of Pakistan hit songs. Indian people are also not pleased about this behaviour of Bollywood musical directors.

Well. Pasoori Nu dividend the public, some are against it and others love this remake version. Everyone has its own opinion, so whether one like the song or not solely depend his own taste of music. We should try to respect others point of view and stop forcing yours choices over others.
