On Saturday morning, the agony of Pakistani students studying in Kyrgyzstan capital Bishkek went viral on different social media platforms. The whole nation saw the suffering of their students when a mob attacked Pakistani student’s hostel and assaulted them physically.
Well, the attack was not on only Pakistani students. The furious mob attacked every foreign student including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and other countries.
How Does The Dispute Start?
Well, on 13 May the dispute among Egyptians and Kyrgyz students evoke this problem. Kyrgyz students went out to protest against all foreign students after this incident. The reason behind the dispute is not known but it creates a huge chaos among students.
Reports Regarding Pakistani Students
Various social media post claims the death and even rape of some female students, but Geo news confirmed the fact that all these news are false. Five Pakistani students were injured in this mob attack, out of which 4 were already discharged from the hospital after receiving first aid, while the last one is still receiving treatment due to his jaw Injury.
Students’ lives are still at stake as many students post videos on social media demanding help from the Pakistan embassy and government. They are saying that according to the Kyrgyz government situation is under control but this is not the truth. Mobs are gathering once again and threatening them, they are demanding to evacuate them safely from this place.
Pakistan Government Reaction Over Situation
Pakistan Prime minter Shahbaz Sharif wrote about this event on his X, former Twitter handle:
“Deeply concerned over the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I have directed Pakistan’s Ambassador to provide all necessary help and assistance. My office is also in touch with the Embassy and constantly monitoring the situation.”
He also directed the Pakistan embassy to update the student’s parents about the situation. PM Shahbaz Sharif also assured that the government would cover the cost of repatriating injured students who are willing to return to Pakistan.”
Hasan Zaigham, Pakistan ambassador at Kyrgyzstan strictly prohibited the students from leaving their hostel and apartments until the situation returned to normal.
He said that his team is working from morning receiving queries from Pakistani students and trying to help them. He submitted a report to PM Shahbaz Sharif stating that every possible effort has been made to keep Pakistani students safe and secure.
