Oman Storm Results in Loss of 10 Young Lives

Climate change has struck the U.A.E. hard this time; record-breaking rainfall has been recorded. This sudden change in climate is powerful enough to flood the deserted countries.

In Oman, this havoc began on Sunday, with the country’s National Committee for Emergency Management recording 230 millimeters, or about 9 inches, of rain between Sunday and Wednesday. The street of Muscat seems to portrays the view of the overflowing river.

The rainfall disrupted life in Oman entirely, resulting in the closure of both private and public schools, and authorities urged people to work from home. Along with these problems, a tragic incident also took place in Oman. The rainfall swept away a bus carrying schoolchildren and an adult in a flood, resulting in a total of 18 deaths reported by the Oman government due to the storm.

The National Committee for Emergency Management also reported the missing two people and how rescue teams are finding them. The police and soldiers have deployed to the most affected province of Oman, Ash Sharqiyah North, to assist people in flooded areas.

People are requested to evacuate the damaged and risky places and seek refuge in shelter homes until the situation is under control.

Although the rainfall hit other countries like Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, the disaster it brought on parents of driven-away schoolchildren is unforgettable.
