Flood Conditions in Pakistan 2022

A natural calamity slowly engulfing our country started in June 2022; it is still not under control and affecting significant areas of Pakistan.

The main reason for the flood is heavy monsoon rain, and its effect multiplies due to the melting of glaciers.

Impact

It affects 30 million people and eradicates at least 218,000 houses, while the number of dwellings undergoing severe damage is 452,000.

Pakistan is a land of agriculture, whose economy mainly comprises the import of crops. Heavy floods do not only destroy the lives of many people but demolish the fertile land also.

Moreover, it killed nearly 700,000 livestock in Baluchistan and ruined 3000km of roads and 146 bridges in flood-affected areas.

It killed at least 1003 people, and 340 of them were children— and injured over 1700 people.

Floods destroy the following mentioned areas in Pakistan

  1. Balochistan

In Balochistan, the flood caused the death of 260 people, and rainwater made many places inhabitable.

More than 300 families became homeless due to this heavy flood; we lost 50,000 houses and 304,000 acres due to this natural calamity.

The capital of Balochistan, Quetta, is the most affected region.

  1. Gilgit-Baltistan

The effect of the flood doubled in Gilgit Baltistan due to land sliding in various areas and it blocked various roads, mainly the Karakorum highway roads. Fifteen people died in that area.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Death of those children who were coming back from school and swept away by the flood left everyone in trauma.

In the swat, a newly built hotel collapsed due to the heavy pressure of water imposed on it.

The southwestern part is still trying to recover from the earthquake that originated in Afghanistan 2 months earlier, and now the heavy flood adds to this damage.

In the province, the flood caused the death of 187 people and injured 320 people.

Pakistan Need Attention

Our homeland is wholly swept away by the flood. The life of people depends upon the courtesy of the flood.

Just imagine sitting between the rocks and the flood surrounding this area, and you are waiting for someone to rescue you. It is terrifying.

It is more like they are not waiting for help but for the death that will prevail over them y this flood sooner or later.

The children are mourning due to hunger; they have water around them but not a single drop of drinking water.

They are not demanding luxury, just the necessities of life.

Actively Participate In Donations

The united nation allocated 3 million USD to help the affected area. And our prime minister is demanding 500 USD dollars from the international community as a flood relief.

But that’s it. It is the end of our duty to seek help from international people and wait until their help arrives.

Our brothers and sisters need us in this challenging time.

Everyone must donate as much as they are capable. I am not saying to donate in lakhs or dollars; those who are qualified should do it, but who do not afford it, your 50 rupees even matter at that time.

Several things in our house are kept unused, like clothes, extra medicines, etc. Donate them.

Whatever thing you think will be helpful to those people, denote it to them.

Do not hesitate to contribute your role because we have an identity due to Pakistan, without it, we are also nothing.

Conclusion

Natural calamity is unpredictable, but the main difference is how we as a nation react to overcome this calamity.

I will conclude this article with the sentence united we stand, divided we fall.
