FIFA world Cup 2022: Qatar And Its Highest Investment Plan

As the FIFA World Cup 2022 kicks off, sporty personalities, especially football lovers, are in heaven. After four years, the new teams compete against each other with passionate spirit—the same excitement level but with a different shared perspective.

Here we will discuss all the crucial points of the FIFA world cup 2022 and why it differs from the last events.

Are you ready? Let’s start our journey!

A Brief History Of The FIFA World Cup

FIFA The world cup plan is an international association football competition held in 1930, and after every four years, selected man’s national teams compete with each other to acquire the FIFA trophy. But in 1942 and 1946, the championship was halted due to World War 2.

The Defending champion is France, who beat Croatia 4-2 to lift the 2018 FIF World Cup trophy.

Qualification Phase

Good news for the host country because its team will be qualified automatically. It took three years of performance of various groups to entitle to the tournament phase. Lastly, 32 teams will compete for the title within the host territory.

The teams will be upgraded to 48 units at the 2026 FIFA world cup.

FIFA World Cup Winner History

  • Brazil has a record of participating in every FIFA world cup tournament and owns five titles of the FIFA world cup
  • Germany and Italy have an account of winning the FIFA world four times
  • Argentina, France, and Uruguay win the championship twice.
  • England and Spain hold one title in the FIFA world cup.

HOST Of FIFA World Cup

Seventeen countries till now have the owner of hosting FIFA world cup. Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, and Mexico held this event twice. At the same time, Uruguay, Switzerland, Sweden, Chile, England, Argentina, Spain, the United States, Japan, South Korea (jointly), South Africa, and Russia entertained the audience once.

For 2022 the host is QATAR as the IFA world cup priority announced on 2nd December 2010 by former FIFA president Sepp Blatter. As for the 2026 tournament, Canada, the United States, and Mexico will jointly host it.

Host And Its Contribution To FIFA World Cup 2022

We all know that Qatar is the first Arab country to host the FIFA World Cup, so there are plenty of exceptions for everyone. Especially Muslim countries are expecting a grand ceremony with a mind-blowing event.

Qatar, please our desires and invest 138 billion pounds (220 billion U.S dollars) in the FIFA world cup 2022. It is approximately 60 times the budget offered by south Africa in 2010 (3.5 billion dollars)

Hence sure, this comparison will indicate its worth.

Why Qatar Issued Such A Huge Amount For This Event

As I mentioned earlier, to maintain the legacy of the Muslim countries, it is evident that such a considerable amount will be used for the FIFA world cup 2022.

Following are the reasons why Qatar is spending way too much on FIFA world cup preparations:

  • The main reason lies in the developmental process. The infrastructure of various stadiums needs to be better per the FIFA world cup requirement. So, for progression and construction, Qatar is spending billions of dollars to standardize their stadiums according to the international level.
  • Next is the Travelers Residence, a residential complex in Doha known as the Pearl, with about $15 billion worth of bunks to accommodate travelers.
  • Forty-five billion dollars has been spent on the development of Lusail city. It will feature the construction of 22 hotels that will accommodate 200000 people.
  • Theme Park, two marinas, and two golf clubs are also established for the recreational purpose of football lovers.
  • Forty-eight billion dollars has been invested in air conditioner installment at stadiums.
  • Moreover, transportation services are also improved during this tenure. The budget specified for this purpose is about 50 billion dollars.
  • Welcoming guests will be done at DOHA international airport, so how they will forget its maintenance, around 11 billion dollars has been invested in this airport to make it more lavish.

Will Qatar Get Any Benefit From This Huge Investment?

It is fair to say that affection for sports and football will compel the Qatar government to make drastic changes in their country. In a few decades, football suppressed basketball in popularity and ruled the world.

Now the question arises, is investing such a huge amount of money in FIFA World Cup 2022 worthwhile? We all know that Qatar is known for its wealth due to its vast gas and petroleum resources. But Qatar’s investment plan still has few benefits.

  • The direct cause is an increase in the Economy of the country. More investors will turn to Qatar and invest in various fields. This investment will ultimately provide more employment and help lift the company’s economy.
  • This investment will also cause an increase in their GDP by up to 3%, according to world bank statistics.
  • 1.5 million jobs will be introduced in industries like construction, real estate, and hospitality. Hence no more suffering from the jobless condition.
  • It will attract tourists to the country. 3.5 million travelers (about twice the population of Nebraska) will visit Qatar in 2022, and this count will reach 7.4 million in2 (about half the area of a Manhattan city block)030.
  • It is also predicted that 2% inflation will stabilize in 2023 due to this colossal money plan.

Why Is There A Shift In The Schedule Of The FIFA World Cup 2022

We all know that FIFA world cup matches were held in June or July after all the domestic football matches ended. This time the time slot changes.

The reason behind this is the intense weather in Qatar. Summers are severe in Qatar, with temperatures between 40 to 50C; thus, the board has decided to hold this event in November and December.

It may seem easy to change the match plan from June to December, but it’s not. Due to the FIFA World Cup 2022, various European domestic football matches have been suspended, and some end their events before the FIFA World Cup.

A mess ensues, but it is managed very well. The original plan was to start the tournament on November 21 with four matches per day. This was later changed and the first match between Qatar and Ecuador was played on 20 November.

The championship of the FIFA world cup 2022 will be decided on 18th December (QATARS’ NATIONAL DAY) at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

The total prize pool is 440 million dollars which are 40 million dollars higher than the previous one.

Conclusion

Everyone has mixed feelings about the FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022, some are for it, and some are against it. But one thing is sure; the excitement level will never go down either way.

Remember a few days back when A controversial photo of Ronaldo and Messi in one frame went viral on social media? Everyone was trembling and waiting for a surprise or a big announcement. In the end, it was an edited photo.

Similarly, keep your enthusiasm for this tournament because anything can happen, and you cannot predict the future.
